This one-day program is specifically geared towards health and safety committees or health and safety representatives and is designed to be above level one and level two-certification training. Companies have conducted this program annually to keep the health and safety committee focused and motivated.
An important aspect of this training is keeping members up to date on current trends.
Participants will learn:
- The Occupational Health and Safety Act and the requirements for Joint Health and Safety Committees
- Rights, powers and the function of the committee
- Certified members and their powers and responsibilities
- Right to refuse to do work that is unsafe
- Right to stop work
- An examination of applicable regulations – how familiar is the committee with them?
- Workplace inspections and an examination of your current practices
- Accident investigations and the role of the committee
- Interaction between the committee and shop floor supervisors
- How to communicate the role of the Joint Health and Safety Committee to workers, supervisors and managers
- Proper ways to conduct safety meetings
Each participant will receive course material and a certificate of participation.
