Basic Electrical Safety Awareness Course

This course is designed for people exposed to hazardous energy risks while performing job requirements. The Electrical Safety Awareness Course is important to provide the skills and knowledge to safely work on and around machines and related equipment.

Participants will learn:

  • Know what safety requirements employers are legally required to provide for Qualified and Non-Qualified workers
  • Demonstrate knowledge of basic electrical theory.
  • Describe the effects of electricity and the body
  • Why and How electricity can harm people;
  • Techniques for protection from shocks, arc flash and accidental/incidental contact.
  • Limitations for working by non licensed trades person and the Electricity Act
  • Electrical Troubleshooting Basics
  • Safe use of a multi-meter.
  • Recognize the steps needed to work safely on or near live parts
  • Discuss the requirements for energizing and de-energizing power circuits
  • Employ the specific steps to be taken to ensure an electrically safe work condition

In addition to the above, there will be a number of practical exercises.

Who Should Attend – Attendees would include individuals with basic electrical knowledge that may be exposed to electrical hazardous energy while maintaining or operating machinery, and working around equipment that may pose an electrical hazard.
